The other day, I was telling my friend Shaun that we are drawn to sacred medicines because they work on the level of the soul, oftentimes like nothing else can. He proceeded to remind me that yes, they do what years of talk therapy can. And to this, I can attest. Talk therapy was my ego running in circles and around the therapist (and myself, and my pain, and the elephant in the room: the need for healing).

They are called sacred because they work on the level of the immaterial, like the soul, like the heart, as with San Pedro. It's a far cry from being hung upside down like St. Peter, trying to call out how absurd a living situation was back then. If anything, I'd say that the most absurd event I've ever encountered on this planet is Christianity, the only worthy contender for the title of "hyper-hypocrite".
